Lost Thumbnails in Vista (and Windows 7)

Q: Quick question: What happened to the "thumbnails view" in Vista? In XP I could open a folder, select "thumbnails" view and see miniatures of the different images in the folder. Now, in Vista Home, all I see is the icon with the logo of the program that is used to open the image.I can get no mini preview no matter how large I make the icon. It is really annoying having to open every single image to find what I want before renaming and sort them. - Tony Malvarez. A: Vista totally includes the
thumbnails view in multiple sizes: Medium Icons, Large Icons, and Extra
Large Icons in the views list. At the Small Icons size it does use the
generic icon. The same is true in Windows 7. If you don't see
thumbnails you almost certainly have a wrong setting in Windows
Explorer. Navigate to a folder containing pictures, so success will be
obvious. Press F10 to reveal the Windows Explorer menu. Choose Folder
Options from the Tools menu. Click the View tab and remove the check
next to "Always show icons, never thumbnails". Once you click OK you
